Went out for a charter with Nick and Josh in there boat last week to get them set up for a few days at the lake. Conditions were okay but very windy with the water temp steadily cooling of in the days prior. We had a good session with 3 from 4 landed with the biggest 99 and a metre fish lost. The boys then put what they had learnt into action over the next few days both getting there first metre barra at 103 and 110 with some other good fish lost to sub standard leader (I had warned them 😂). Just a warning for everyone 80lb supple leader will not handle consistent metre barra without bust off's. Had another great time this year with Justin for the humminbird Barra classic. We were running equal 2nd going into the second night but didn't manage any upgrades leaving us with a still solid 5th place. Was some very tough fishing for competitors who weren't lucky enough to find an area with active fish given the terrible conditions. We had put in some work in the prefish with multiple big fish hooked every night. We chose a spot that we thought we would hopefully have to ourselves and this definitely payed off on the first night. For us it was very slim pickings for the first session besides a window of activity between 11pm and 4:30am. The plan for the 2nd night was to try and target the big fish we had seen earlier the night before. A risky plan given the session finished at the start of our bite period the night before but a better alternative than looking and not finding much else. In the end it didnt pay off but thats the nature of comp fishing. ![]()

Was a great field of barra fisherman, with a mix of seasoned comp anglers and very knowledgeable mondy regulars. Congratulations to the other placing teams and hope to see everyone back next year!
